TARGET
Anyone who is already a GNAS member wishing to shoot with us please contact Tim Swane (Contact us page).
The club hosts a Portsmouth Round on the 3rd Sunday in February each year. An Albion round the second Sunday in September and a two day clout at the end of September.
For competition enquiries please contact Craig Benson (contact us page)
FIELD
Kendal Bowmen has a field course laid out in their wood at Hutton Park, Sedbergh road near Kendal. Usually shooting on Thursday nights from around 6.30pm in the Summer.
Any clubs interested in shooting at our wood are most welcome please contact Tony Tiddeswell (see contacts page).
JUNIORS
All juniors must complete a beginner’s course before joining the club. During the course they will be taught basic archery technique and safety using club equipment. Once they are members they are encouraged to attend competitions and achieve personal goals through coaching and practice. Junior members can continue to use club equipment for up to the first 3 months of membership.
Practice nights through the summer are in Tuesdays from 6.45 to 8.15 at the Rugby club on Shap Rd., and through the winter on Fridays from 6.45 to 8.15 at Kirkland Parish Hall. There is a practice session on Sunday mornings from 10am at the cricket club throughout the year which is open to both seniors and juniors.
Applicants must be 11 years old or over.
During the beginner’s course, and during practice sessions for under 15s, a parent or responsible adult for each junior must be present at all times. For archers over 15 and for under 15s who have been members for a while, permission may be given for them to be unaccompanied at the discretion of the coaches.
CLUB AND COUNTY RECORDS
Anyone can set a record for any recognised round simply by shooting the highest recorded score. This happens automatically at competitions because organisers always send results lists to both club and county records officers. To achieve one during a practice session, the score must be recorded on a proper score sheet, must be countersigned by a coach or field captain and MUST be actually given to the records officer, (surprising how many people forget the last one!).
