Beginner courses

If you wish to join and attend a Grand National Archery Society (GNAS) affiliated archery club such as ours, it is a requirement to first complete a beginner course. But even if you only want to have a go at archery, our beginner course is a great way to have fun and for learning more about the sport.

Archery is a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all backgrounds, ages and fitness levels. Our coaches are trained to deal with most disabilities but please ring and discuss any specific needs before signing up. For safety reasons, only juniors who are 11 years or over can attend our beginner course.

We run a number of beginner courses over the year, indoor during the winter and outdoor during the summer. Indoor courses typically consist of four 3-hour lessons on Saturday mornings whilst outdoor courses usually consist of six 2-hour lessons on Monday evenings.

The cost of the course is £60 for adults and £30 for under 18’s. Adults will receive a £10 discount on the first year of membership to our club, should you decide to join. We supply all the archery equipment you need for the course and we have bows to match all sizes and physical abilities.

Having successfully completed a beginner course, you have the opportunity to join our club, although there is no obligation. We are a very sociable club and you will feel very welcomed with our club coaches and members continuing to help you improve. If you wish to have more time to decide on what kit to buy after completing the course, there is no urgency as you will be able to continue to use club equipment for up to another 3 months.
